The Luxembourgish town of Esch-sur-Alzette, this year’s European Capital of Culture, hosted the European Museum Academy’s conference and awards meeting, at which Andreja Rihter presented the Women Writers Route (WWR), which was certified this year by the Council of Europe’s Institute of Cultural Routes.

The summer school “Intimacy in Women’s Reading and Writing”, organised by the CEEPUS network “Women Writers in History” and the Women Writers Route in cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Nova Gorica, brought together participants from seven European countries.

The Women Writers Route has been certified by the European Institute for Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The Women Writers Route is the first of the 48 Council of Europe Cultural Routes to be based in Slovenia.

The Women Writers Cultural and Tourism Route was presented at the meeting of the Governing Board of the Council of Europe’s Extended Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, which will take the final decision on the award of the Council of Europe Cultural Route certificates to this year’s candidates in the coming weeks.

More than twenty members of the Women Writers Route gathered for the 3rd General Meeting that took place online. Various reports were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the evaluation report of the European Institute for Cultural Routes.
