The Women Writers Route recently participated in the engaging General Assembly of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, held in Rome. Represented by ICCI, the reference hub for the WWR in Italy, our team had the invaluable opportunity to connect with other European routes, share best practices, and lay the groundwork for exciting future developments.
Sharing Best Practices and Operational Strategies
The convention in Rome provided a vital platform to listen to representatives from various Cultural Routes. The sessions focused on operational methods, governance, and the ways in which different routes interact with public bodies and with one another. It was a profound moment of learning and shared vision, reinforcing the importance of a united approach to promoting European cultural heritage.
Fostering Cross-Route Synergies
A major highlight of the Rome meeting was the opportunity to network and establish the foundations for cross-route collaborations. We are thrilled to be exploring potential joint activities with other prominent networks, including Iter Vitis, the European Fairy Tale Route, and the Historic Cafés Route. These synergies will offer fresh, multidisciplinary ways for travelers to experience the literary journeys of our female authors—perhaps pairing a good book with a historic café or a local vineyard.
A Nationwide Expansion in Italy
Looking ahead, the assembly also marked a stepping stone for the growth of the Women Writers Route within Italy. ICCI is currently finalizing a major expansion project that will extend the route far beyond its current focal points in the Piedmont region. In the near future, new institutions, museums, and literary landmarks dedicated to extraordinary female writers from across the entire national territory will join our network.
