Women Writers Route Holds 7th General Meeting and Expands European Network

The Women Writers Route Association successfully held its 7th General Meeting online on 18 March 2026, bringing together members and partners from across Europe to review achievements, strengthen cooperation, and outline strategic plans for the future.
Representatives from France, Finland, Norway, Serbia, Slovenia, Poland, Portugal, and Italy presented ongoing projects dedicated to preserving and promoting the literary heritage of women writers through festivals, exhibitions, conferences, and educational initiatives.
A key focus of the meeting was the upcoming recertification process for the Council of Europe Cultural Route certification, with the official hearing scheduled for May in Luxembourg. Members also confirmed plans for an important in-person gathering in Turin, Italy, on 18 April 2026.
The Association welcomed new members, including the Cemetery and Burial Agency of Oslo and representatives from Vojvodina, Serbia, while also expanding its literary network by adding Camilla Collett and Lala Romano as newly recognized authors within the route.
Strategic priorities for 2026 and beyond include education, tourism development, digital transformation, and participation in new European projects such as Creative Europe and Erasmus+.
The meeting concluded with discussions on future leadership elections, expanded international partnerships, and calls for new activity proposals to further strengthen the Women Writers Route as a leading cultural network celebrating women’s literary heritage across Europe.
