Online training for the Women Writers’ Route
As part of the preparations for the official certification of the new European cultural route – the Women Writers’ Route – the Forum of Slavic Cultures attended the online training organised by the European Institute of Cultural Routes.
The purpose of the online seminar was to guide the participants through the preparation process and clarify the certification criteria of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The representatives of the European Institute of Cultural Routes at the Council of Europe with director Stefano Dominioni at the helm presented the steps to be taken for a new European cultural route and the timeframe for the next 2020 – 2021 cycle. The two-day seminar also served as a platform for discussions and sharing of opinions and experience. The Forum of Slavic Cultures found the training useful for the implementation of further steps leading to the establishment of the Women Writers’ Route. So far, six countries have joined these efforts. The Programme Council is led by Ankica Puškarić, director of literary museum Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales from Ogulin, Croatia, and the Scientific Council by Katja Mihurko Poniž, PhD, professor at the University of Nova Gorica. The new cultural route with the Council of Europe certification will help the Forum of Slavic Cultures (route manager) and partners to introduce the professional and the wider public to the stories of women who left their mark not only on the history of literature, but also on the struggle for women’s and human rights at the turn of the 20th century.
