Slavic Women Writers in the academic volume Defiant Trajectories

The volume Defiant Trajectories: Mapping out Slavic Women Writers Route brings six academic papers on women writers from Montenegro, Croatia, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Slovenia. The publishers of the papers from the conference dedicated to women writers are the association Women Writers Route and Forum of Slavic Cultures. The volume Defiant Trajectories: Mapping out Slavic Women Writers Route was presented in the framework of the CEEPUS network, which is dedicated to women writers, by editors: Katja Mihurko Poniž (University of Nova Gorica; President of the association Women Writers Route), Biljana Dojčinović (University of Belgrade) and Maša Grdešić (University of Zagreb). Six papers featuring Diana Veković from Montenegro, Ivana Brlić Mažuranić and Marija Jurić Zagorka from Croatia, Maria Konopnicka from Poland, Anna Akhmatova, Marina Tsvetaeva and Zinaida Gippius from Russia, and Jelena Dimitrijević from Serbia were written by Ksenija Rakoćević from Montenegro, Ekaterina Artemyuk from Russia, Maša Grdešić from Croatia, Biljana Dojčinović from Serbia, Katja Mihurko Poniž from Slovenia, Monika Rudaś-Grodzka, Katarzyna Nadana-Sokolowska and Emilia Kolinko from Poland. When presenting the volume Katja Mihurko Poniž reminded us that the United Nations’ sustainable development goal 5 is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. She also presented the Women Writers cultural route and cultural routes of the Council of Europe. Her analysis of cultural routes revealed that women are very poorly represented with dedicated routes. Maša Grdešić spoke about the papers in the volume, identifying their common thread as well as differences between them. Biljana Dojčinović talked about the work and fascinating life of the world traveller Jelena Dimitrijević. She also noted that the Women Writers Route (WWR) is important because it raises awareness of the marks that women writers left in our cultures. We do not need big projects to remember them, even little steps, such as memorial plaques and benches, count. The publishers of the volume of papers from the conference dedicated to women writers, which took place in Ljubljana in 2019, are the association Women Writers Route and FSK.
